From Fortune:
Japan’s Asahi Group Holdings ASBRY 14.93% said it will buy five eastern European beer brands from Anheuser-Busch InBev BUD 1.26% for 7.3 billion euros ($7.8 billion), in the largest purchase of a foreign beer operation by a Japanese brewer.
Anheuser-Busch InBev had agreed to sell the brands, which include the Czech market leader Pilsner Urquell, Poland’s Tyskie and Lecher and Hungary’s Dreier, to help get clearance from competition regulators for its $100 billion takeover of SABMiller SBMRY 0.00% .
The deal, expected to close in the first half of next year, would be Asahi‘s biggest acquisition and its latest purchase in Europe, where it has already bought SABMiller Western European brands Peroni and Grolsch. As a bonus I’ve added in the 2022 packaging for Asahi Super Dry 0.0 (11.2oz bottles)
