From Pelican:
Earlier this year Pelican brewmaster Darron Welch issued a Pelican-wide call to employees wishing to imagine a unique recipe they could share at OBF. Named after Pelican brewery rep, Maia Chong, who conceived the refreshing summer brew, Chongie Saaz is a Bohemian pilsner that showcases spicy Czech hops paired with Weyermann Barke Pilsner and Vienna malt to create an incredibly clean flavored lager that showcases the beautiful Pilsner malt balanced with snappy bitterness and uncompromising drinkability.
Specifications Ingredients
OG—11.8◦ Weyerman Barke
FG—1.4◦ Pilsner Malt
ABV: 5.5% Vienna Malt
IBU: 45 Saaz Hops
“Those four ingredients (soft water, Saaz hops, workhorse lager strain, & plenty of pale malts) work in concert to create a thrilling new beer with a sparkling clarity, a color reminiscent of spun gold, an aromatic bouquet, & an incomparably light body,” says Joshua M. Bernstein in his The Complete Beer Course: Boot Camp for Beer Geeks.
The unique draft-only brew will be available in the Pelican booth at OBF this week.
