Salt Lake City – (May 11, 2016) – The list of accolades for Utah Brewers Cooperative, representing Squatters and Wasatch, grew ever longer this past week when Squatters and Wasatch beers won three silver medals during World Beer Cup™ at the conclusion of the Craft Beer Conference in Philadelphia.

Vying for top honors were nearly 6,600 entries from 55 countries, representing 1,907 breweries. Of the 287 awards that were bestowed, only six breweries, including the Utah Brewers Cooperative, received three medals. Squatters and Wasatch were also the only Utah beers to medal at this year’s competition.
Taking home the silver medals were Squatters Bumper Crop Honey Ale in the Herb and Spice Beer category, Squatters Chasing Tail Golden Ale, in the Golden or Blonde Ale category, and Wasatch Polygamy Porter Nitro in the Brown Porter category.

“We have always been extremely proud of these winning beers and they are very popular with our Utah consumers, but it is especially gratifying to have this recognition outside of the state,” says Director of Brewing and Cellar Operations Jon Lee. “With the judging panel representing 31 countries, this is truly competing on an international stage.” Adds Lee, “With regards to our Polygamy Porter Nitro medal, since October of 2016 will mark the 30th anniversary of Wasatch Beers, this win is an awesome way to kick off our anniversary celebration.”

Introduced by the Brewers Association in 1996, World Beer Cup™ is one of the largest commercial beer competitions, and “recognizes the very best in the global community of brewers – their innovation, creativity and the craft of beer and brewing,” say Charlie Papazian, founder of the Brewers Association.
