Today we get to see a new collaboration coming from Portland Brewing and Double Mountain. This is Subcontinental IPA and it is brewed with pepper, cardamom, clove, cumin and saffron. The beer will be packaged in 22oz bottles and it will fly in at 7%-AbV. Subcontinental IPA was created for Portland Beer Week and the artwork was created by comic book artist Michael Avon Oeming.
“Inspired by the intriguing spice blends used in Indian cuisines, we carefully added our own blend of spices to help draw out the tropical notes from the El Dorado, Calypso, Centennial and Challenger hops,” says Pappe. “I believe the spice blend we ultimately chose creates an impression that is greater than the sum of its parts,” adds Swihart.
