BrewDog Releasing Ace Of Chinook & Barrel Aged Albino Squid Assassin

imageFrom BrewDog:

Following on from last week’s killer hand of AB:20 and Dog E this week we are ready to play another pair of aces, as we unleash two awesome new beers into our online shop and BrewDog bars! Together, the duo form an unbeatable combination of flavours – one bringing an enormous complexity from barrel-ageing, the other a straight-up jolt of citrus for the increasingly longer days ahead.

Ace of Chinook

The first of the brand new beers to break cover today is the latest in our showcase Ace of Hops series. Following hot on the heels of Ace of Simcoe, the second hop platform is a stage set for a particular varietal we use regularly here at BrewDog, but until this point never on its own in a single-hop capacity. Our newest session IPA centres on an American classic – Chinook.

Whereas Simcoe brought a tropical note to the party, Chinook is all about those defining twin pillars of the US craft brewing industry – citrus and pine. Resinous, dry and with pithy bitterness throughout, Ace of Chinook is a showstopper of pine and grapefruit, layered into each other from the start to the relentlessly long finish. And for those wishing to play along at home, our Ace of Hops series has been made literal with an epic set of playing cards.

Barrel Aged Albino Squid Assassin

Talking of relentless, the second beer launching today is the return of our multi-armed monster from the deep, Albino Squid Assassin. Its unstoppable embrace is given even more weaponry this time around, as we have re-tooled its bristling series of depth charges with a further detonation of flavour from being aged in rye whiskey barrels.

Yes, our Red Rye IPA has been sequestered in that most fitting of casks, and is set to have even more impact than its predecessor. First released for our army of Equity Punks at our AGM, the barrel-aged Albino Squid Assassin combines the peppery rye, cinder toffee and autumn stone fruit with a toasty, warming caress from the oaky, spicy depths of rye whiskey casks.

Both beers are live in our online shop right now and will be in our UK bars on draft from 6pm tonight, Thursday 12th May. Head along to your nearest BrewDog bar and leave us your thoughts on the outcome in the comments below!
