Glendale, WI –  Originally created in Bavaria by an innkeeper to quench the thirst of bicyclists,

sportsmen and those who wanted a refreshing low-alcohol beer, the Radler style of beer started

as a blend of wheat beer and lemonade. We encouraged our brewmaster to develop a radler he’d

want to drink. December 2015 saw the introduction of Sprecher Brewery’s Grapefruit Radler, a

sweet, tart and smooth wheat beer featuring the refreshing flavors of pink grapefruit. At 4.5%

abv (alcohol by volume), it is a terrific session beer in warm weather, after exercising, or any

time at all.

After the successful launch of Grapefruit Radler, our brewmaster created and tested recipes for

radlers featuring an array of fruits. According to Jeff Hamilton, president of Sprecher, “Radlers,

Shandys, and other fruit beers are very sought after, particularly in warm weather. Today’s

drinker is looking for variety. We wanted to offer an array of flavors based on the popularity of

our Grapefruit Radler. With that goal in mind, our talented brewmaster created a cornucopia of

radlers. We experimented with over a dozen fruits before finding the best taste profiles in Peach,

Mango, and Orange.”

In mid-April Sprecher Brewery will release three new radlers (wheat beer blended with

individual fruit flavors): Orange Radler, Mango Radler and Peach Radler. Each is 4.5% abv

available in 6 packs of 12 ounce bottles. Sprecher will also introduce a twelve bottle RadPack

Variety Pack featuring all four radlers: Grapefruit, Orange, Mango and Peach. The new radlers

will be in stores by the end of April or early May.

Radler Release Party at Sprecher Brewery

On Friday, April 29th, Sprecher Brewery will host a Radler Release Party from 6pm to 9pm

featuring the new fruit radlers and live music by the Robert Allen, Jr. band. Stop by and be

among the first to try Sprecher’s new brews, some down home blues and a good start to the
