Milford, DE – Mispillion River Brewing will be releasing the 2016 edition of Short ‘N Stout, a bourbon barrel aged stout, in honor of Patrolman Chad E. Spicer, on May 7th.

Head Brewer, Ryan Maloney, worked with Spicer’s friends to create a beer that embodied his character. Short ‘N Stout was born from Spicer’s love of tobacco and whiskey. Brewers began with the base of a 10% ABV Russian Imperial Stout, which gave the ale tobacco, oak, vanilla, and toffee notes. The beer was then aged in whiskey barrels for six months. Bottle number one from 2015 garnered over $2,000 at last year’s event auction.

This annual bottle sale seeks to raise funds for the National Criminal Enforcement Association’s Officer in Distress Fund. In 2015, the event raised over $8,000 for the organization, which provides financial aid to police officers and their families in times of crisis. The brewery focused on this organization, as they provided aid to the family of Patrolman Spicer when he was killed in the line of duty in 2009.

El Presidente, Eric Williams, stated, “We look forward to this event every year, as it provides us with the opportunity to show our local law enforcement officers how grateful we are for their sacrifices. We recognize how vital this support is now more than ever.”

Bottles can only be found at Mispillion River Brewing in Milford, Delaware. Tickets for the event are $25 and include entry to the event and two beers. They can purchased online at http://mispillion-river-brewing.ticketleap.com/short-n-stout-2016/. Ticket prices increase to $35 at the door.
