Two Roads Igor's Dream Returns for Another Brewery Only Release 1/30

imageFrom Two Roads:

Two Roads Brewing Company’s hometown of Stratford, CT is known for playing a large part in aviation history. A mile from where the brewery stands, the world’s first helicopter took off one historic day in 1939 piloted by its designer and legendary aviation pioneer, Igor Sikorsky. His company, Sikorsky Aircraft is still making helicopters in Stratford to this day.

When Two Roads opened in 2012, it knew it wanted to honor this visionary man so Two Roads created a very special commemorative beer and named it “Igor’s Dream”—a Russian Imperial Stout which is an appropriate style given his Russian heritage. And like Igor himself, who took the road less traveled when he invented the helicopter, Two Roads took the “Road Less Traveled” when making this beer. The recipe starts as a classic Russian Imperial Stout but veers off the beaten path by using a healthy dose of malted rye and then barrel-aging it in rye whiskey barrels.

This year marks the 4th annual release of Igor’s Dream in 750mL cork and cage bottles, available only at the brewery on January 30th. 900 bottles will be sold at $20 per bottle. Doors open at 10 a.m.with bottle sales starting at noon.

Two new “copilots” will be joining the flight formation in 2016! Two Roads will be releasing Igor’s Dream aged in a Maple Whiskey barrel from Saxton River Distillery in Vermont and Igor’s Dream aged in a Scotch barrel. Only 250 bottles of each are available. Bottles of these two limited release versions will be $25 per bottle.

Lastly, 250 bottles of both ’14 and ’15 Igor’s Dream will be on sale, also at $25 per bottle.

While supplies last, patrons will be able to buy up to three bottles of the 2016 Rye Whiskey Igor, one each of the 2016 Scotch and 2016 Maple Whiskey Igors and one each of the 2014 and 2015 vintage Rye Whiskey Igors for a total of seven bottles max.

Igor Day isn’t just about the beer though; it’s about celebrating Stratford’s role in aviation history. Igor Sikorsky’s sons will be on hand from noon to 2:00 p.m. to autograph bottles and talk with customers. Brewmaster Phil Markowski will also be signing bottles.

On Igor Day, draft versions of all three 2015 Igor’s Dream variations (Rye Whisky, Scotch and Maple Whiskey) as well as vintage Igor’s Dream will be on tap for 8 oz. pours and tasters in the brewery tasting room while supplies last.

Two food trucks (TBA) will be selling delicious food but feel free to bring your own fare. Tours will start at 3 p.m. on Igor Day. 10% of the bar sales will go to the CT Air and Space Museum based in Stratford.

Igor Day is one of Two Roads’ favorite days of the year. It’s a day to honor and celebrate a great beer and a great man.
