BrewDog Announces Winner of 2015 Prototype Challenge - Jet Black Heart

imageFrom BrewDog:

The usual phrase is ‘Christmas has come early’ – but for our Prototype Series, January has come early. We had planned to run the voting process for our 2015 iteration into the New Year, but one beer has been so far ahead from the very beginning that we have stretched the winners’ tape across the track this side of Hogmanay.

Ladies and gentleman, your Prototype champion is the Milk Stout.

In a landslide victory the dark, smooth and roasty oatmeal stout polled never less than 40% of the entire vote, leaving the other three beers playing catch-up right from the start. Finishing in second place was the Session India Pale Lager on 25%, with the Black IPA and Hopped-up Brown Ale splitting the remainder of the votes equally (the IPA ahead by a whisker).

If you’re new to the Prototype chase, what happens once the medals have been awarded is that the winner is promoted to our regular line-up of beers, à la Jack Hammer, Cocoa Psycho and Vagabond Pale Ale (to name but three). Continuing in that vein, we are locking in the Milk Stout as a brand new Headliner – Jet Black Heart.

This is a beer that we trialled on Nitro in our bars, and the feedback was so amazing that it deservedly went into the Prototype Series – and the fact that it then came top is an endorsement of the amazing work our brew team have done on the beer; and the way our bars team have dialled in the Nitro serve across our network of BrewDog bars.

Stand by for a detailed run down on Jet Black Heart when it launches, but we can’t wait to return a dark beer into our Headliner range – thanks to each and every one of you who took part and voted! Our Prototype Series beers are still live in our online shop so you can try them for yourselves if you haven’t had the chance, or if you want to re-acquaint yourselves with a favourite.

So who’s ready to kick-off 2016 with a blast of Nitro?
