From BrewDog:
Our American Dream has begun! As we start to create our US brewery, we figured that we should detail a bit more of what we have pencilled in for the Land Of The Free. So our final 2016 preview post looks ahead to what the next twelve months have in store for BrewDog Stateside.
As with our previous blogs about next year’s beers, bars and Ellon HQ, if there’s anything you would like to contribute or suggest, please do so in the comments thread at the end of the post. We have loved that so many of you have taken the time to do just that!
So let’s get started and delve deeper into BrewDog USA…
Our Columbus Site
Work has now commenced at the 42 acre site on Gender Road, 20 minutes from Downtown Columbus. Our 100,000 square foot brewery, US HQ and visitor centre will soon take shape once the land has been cleared and utilities laid. Our BrewDog USA team – of which there are now three – have worked round the clock to make all of this a reality, bolstered by the welcome from local people and the craft beer community in the area.
And that’s no exaggeration - we are still surfing a near-overwhelming wave of public support over in Ohio. The people of the Midwest have more than lived up to their reputation for being friendly to those from out of town. Our Keith has been inundated with offers of places to stay, beers and even several home-cooked meals. We may never see him again!
The USA Brewhouse
We have an amazing partner in place at Exxcel Project Management who are securing a fantastic team of design and construction companies, meaning we can get on with the super-cool task of selecting the steel vessels to be shipped to the site! Our 200HL brewhouse will be on order soon, alongside a series of tanks from 100 to 800HL, through to the eventual Punk IPA-filled 1,800HL vessels as we expand the facility once everything else is in place…
BrewDog USA jobs
One illustration of how much we love Columbus and the Ohio region is the sheer number of CV’s (resumes, we’ll have to refer to them!) from local beer lovers who are keen to help us enable the project to succeed. It’s been simply incredible.
With Zarah about to be in place at Columbus, we are looking for a visionary CEO to join who lives and breathes craft beer and is uncompromising about quality. We are also searching for aHead of Production to lead our flagship USA facility and train, facilitate and inspire our production crew in Columbus.
If you think you fit the bill for either position, please submit your resume to usajobs@brewdog.com. We will shortly be announcing the next series of posts we are keen to fill, so stay tuned!
Equity for Punks USA Update
We are working hard to be able to launch our innovative Equity for Punks business model in the United States. It’s something that we are committed to doing next year, as we expand into the American market with our Columbus-brewed craft beer. Keep an eye on the website for updates on Equity for Punks USA – or you can sign-up for updates right here!
BrewDogs: Season IV
Season III of BrewDogs is available on Demand via the Esquire Network and also on iTunes in the USA. James and Martin once again visited a range of incredible locations and created brews that were utterly unique. From compiling the ultimate Belgian six-pack to brewing fifteen feet under a frozen lake in Michigan (plus a peyote-fuelled adventure in Mexico) the season involved extreme brewing in every possible location. And as for Season IV – well, watch this space…!
Bars in the USA
Our downtown Columbus bar search is going incredibly well – the blog post for clues has, like everything else associated with the entire project, totally surpassed our expectations. Katie has been literally run off her feet trying to keep up! Columbus is such a beer-forward city, we are loving the fact that we will one day have a bar in the centre to dispense our craft beer to the local beer fans!
But, that’s not all. Alongside our flagship BrewDog USA bar in Columbus Ohio, we are also looking for locations in other amazing cities – let us know in comments section below if there’s a location in America you think deserves a ‘BrewDog…’ prefix!
It’s been an incredible few months since we first set foot in the US – from initial responses to the crowds at the Winking Lizard and St James Tavern the other week, the reception BrewDog have received as we have journeyed through the State of Ohio has been – in every sense of the word – awesome. We can’t wait to get BrewDog USA up and running, and repay each and every one who has supported us in the best way we know how – with freshly-brewed craft beer!
