Night Shift Expansion Details & Harborside Release

In July, Night Shift Brewing added three 40-barrel fermenting tanks to their Everett, MA microbrewery, increasing their total annual production capacity to over 5000 barrels. In October, that number will increase to 8000, with the addition of two 60-barrel fermenting tanks. For some perspective, they brewed 250 barrels in 2012 (their first year), 650 barrels in 2013, and 1400 barrels in 2014.

"We're really excited to more than double production capacity between the beginning of 2015 and the end of it," said NSB co-founder Rob Burns. "Our customers can except to see a lot more variety and availability as we move into 2016."

In addition to more tanks, Night Shift also added 11,000 sq. ft. of storage and production space earlier this year, bringing their total brewery footprint to 27,000 sq. ft. They began the business with 2500 sq. ft. of space three years ago.

Night Shift Brewing recently opened a new outdoor beer garden and bar, adjacent to their 2500 sq. ft. indoor Taproom. It features patio seating for up to 40 people, sun umbrellas, pallet furniture, and food trucks serving the whole space 4-5 times per week. Of course, there's also an outdoor bar, giving customers easy access to six beer varieties on draft.

Night Shift Brewing's 2500 sq. ft. Taproom recently saw a total furniture makeover. Increasing their seating capacity from 80 to 120 (overall Taproom capacity is 232), the team replaced all of their former seating with an eclectic variety of funky, refurbished furniture. Their choices embrace the brewery's industrial roots and general aesthetic, with new additions ranging from German Oktoberfest tables, to patina-covered zinc-tops, to restored American factory pieces, each one with a unique story behind it.

"We've been wanting to do this since we opened the new Taproom in May of 2014," said Michael O'Mara, one of the brewery's founders. "We finally had the capital to make this investment and give our customers an even better experience here."

HARBORSIDE RELEASE
In mid-August, Night Shift Brewing is set to release a 40-barrel batch of Harborside, their gose-style ale brewed with Island Creek Oysters. One of their most popular summer beers of 2014, this tart and briny sour ale returns again in 750ml bottles and on draft. It will be the first and only Harborside release this year, available at their Taproom as well as select restaurant and retail partners, including Kenmore's Island Creek Oyster Bar.
