A big thank you to Woodchuck Hard Cider for giving me an opportunity to sample an exciting new cider coming to bottles this month.
This hard cider is part of the Out On a Limb series and it is called Lazy Hazy Lemon Crazy. Out on a Limb is a series of rotating six packs (they can rotate every 30 days) that feature some of Woodchuck’s most creative cider recipes and Lazy Hazy Crazy Lemon is the fifth release in the series.
This release is Woodchuck’s cider-interpretation of a traditional Shandy and it uses McIntosh, Cortland and Empire apples as well as fresh lemon juice and lemongrass. So how is it? Well I’m glad you asked.
You can’t help but find crisp apple and lemon in the aroma and the taste is really interesting. It’s a pleasant blend of tart apples and sweet lemonade-like flavors that blend to make this cider really drinkable and really refreshing. I definitely liked the citrus flavors and the light body made it really easy drinking. Lazy Hazy Lemon Crazy finishes clean (and tart) and I really liked how the lemon and citrus flavors made the sweet and tart cider even more drinkable. As the name implies, this is a great summer drink and I can’t wait to have one on the beach.
Lazy Hazy Lemon Crazy comes in at 4.2%-AbV and the suggested retail price for a six-pack is $10.99. It will be available in early June so be sure to try this one for yourself.
As a bonus, Woodchuck also sent a sample of their Summer Cider and Woodchuck Pink. Summer Cider reminded me of fresh berries with a tart apple and earthy/oaky finish, and Pink is a more dry and crisp cider that has a vinous and tart apple flavor that I really liked. These are both available now in six packs and on draft so be sure to try them and let me know what you think.

I enjoy most of Woodchuck's offerings, but unfortunately found Lazy Hazy Lemon Crazy to be too lemony & tart for my taste. I sure like the idea of it though, just wish it was toned down. Summer Time is one of my favorites, and Pink isn't bad. The previous Out on a Limb release, Oopsy Daisy, is quite tasty.
