It’s a little belated..but this PR from Pyramid:
SEATTLE, Oct. 28, 2014 - Pyramid Breweries' Apricot Ale added another gold medal to its collection at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival® held in Denver earlier this month. The beer earned top honors, placing first out of 65 competitive beers in the "Fruit Wheat Beer" category.
"Whether you're a beer drinker looking to get into craft, or you just appreciate a great fruit or wheat beer, Apricot Ale is one you don't want to miss," said Ryan Pappe, head brewer, Pyramid Breweries. "We've been perfecting it since the early 1990s – people loved it then and beer drinkers continue to love it today."
Winning History
Apricot Ale first won gold at GABF® back in 1994 when it was one of the first fruit beers on the craft beer scene. At that time, Pyramid – a pioneer in the craft beer movement – was already celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Over the years, Pyramid has won numerous awards, including a total of four medals for Apricot Ale from GABF®:
- 2014, entered by Pyramid Breweries, Fruit Wheat Beer category, GABF® Gold
- 2010, entered by Pyramid Breweries, Fruit Beer category, GABF® Silver
- 2008, entered by Pyramid Breweries, Fruit or Vegetable Beer category, GABF® Gold
- 1994, entered by Hart Brewing, Fruit, Vegetable Beer category, GABF® Gold
Even with its limited distribution, Pyramid Apricot Ale is the number one apricot beer and the number seven fruit beer in the U.S. Beer drinkers and foodies alike also have used the beer in food pairings and recipes.
Apricot Ale delivers Pyramid's signature refreshingly unfiltered character with delicious fruit flavor at 5.1% ABV and 11 IBUs. It is available year-round on draft, in 22 oz. bottles and in 12 oz. 6-pack and 12-pack bottles at select bars, arenas, stadiums, restaurants and retailers across the United States.
