From Two Roads:
We are proud to announce the return of Via Cordis, Latin for “road of the heart”. Via Cordis is a Belgian-style Single Abbey Ale and it honors the centuries-old link between religious abbeys and beer. Traditionally, the monks brewed this flavorful, lower alcohol brew for their own consumption and it was not made available to the public.
The Via Cordis recipe was created collaboratively between Brewmaster Phil Markowski and Sacred Heart University biology professors Geffrey Stopper and Kirk Bartholomew. The beer is golden in color with a bisquity malt complexity balanced by a delicate noble hop character. The authentic Trappist yeast sourced from a brewery in Belgium contributes a fruity/spicy complexity and highly refined Hallertau hops add a floral, herbaceous quality.
The beer will go on sale in the tasting room on Wednesday, July 2nd. A limited amount of 22 oz. bottles and draft will hit the broad market starting Mid-July . A portion of the proceeds will go towards scholarships for Sacred Heart students.
