From Iron Hill:
CHESTNUT HILL, PA – On Thursday, June 12, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., fans of funky Brettanomyces-laced beers are in for a treat at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (8400 Germantown Avenue, 215-948-5600): Head Brewer Paul Rutherford’s 2014 World Beer Cup (WBC) gold medalist, Golden Child, will be available on draft while supplies last. This rare and special golden ale is fermented exclusively with a single strain of Brett, for bright notes of lemon rind and grapefruit balanced by quenching acidity, and is also being poured as a barrel-aged version – but only at Iron Hill Chestnut Hill and only until the limited supply is gone.
“All of our beers are a labor of love, and it’s always tremendously rewarding to be recognized for their quality,” says Rutherford, one of Iron Hill’s most award-winning brewers. “This summer, I’m thrilled to share this thirst-quenching warm weather treat with our friends at the bar – and to raise a glass to another medal for Iron Hill.”
Golden Child earned a gold medal at the WBC in the “American-Style Brett Beer” category; since then, Rutherford has also created Barrel-Aged Golden Child, which spends eight months in a wine barrel for added fruit funk. Both will be available on draft exclusively at Iron Hill Chestnut Hill until they’re gone – making this a rare opportunity for beer lovers to sample these much-lauded beers right where they’re brewed. Hands-on brewer Rutherford is frequently on hand, so guests hoping to chat him up about the brewing process may even have the opportunity to do so. Golden Child is $5.75 for a 12-oz. pour; Barrel-Aged Golden Child is $6.25 for a 12-oz. pour. Both beers pair beautifully with Iron Hill’s approachable-yet-elevated American food.
