Weed Mountain High IPA, a new CT craft brew with recipe originating from Weed, California is now available.
The Weed Company in Cheshire CT has brought another recipe from Mount Shasta Brewing Company in Weed, California to Connecticut. Indian Pale Ales are the most popular type of craft beer in Weed, California and CT alike. Weed Mountain High IPA is a deep golden, mild and malty Indian Pale Ale. This is a classic American IPA uniting the finest Simcoe and Centennial hops to reach 63 IBUs. This 7% alcohol beer is smooth and mellow with a clean bitter finish. A generous dryhop emphasizes a green hop accent with an enjoyable aroma.
CT Weed craft beers are brewed locally in Bloomfield and have 3 distribution partners - Dichello, HDI and Levine who provide combined coverage for the entire state. Any store or restaurant can order Weed beer by contacting one of these distributors. Weed Mountain High IPA and Abner Weed Amber Ale are available in six-packs, cases, 5 gallon logs and half kegs.
Last year on May 17th, Mike Weed, founder of The Weed Company in Cheshire suffered a severe stroke which left him paralyzed on his right side, unable to walk and speak. After intense rehab, a positive attitude and tremendous support from his family and friends, today, Mike is walking and talking and eager to get out selling Weed Beer! It is important to Mike and his family to create stroke awareness and they have created a website: http://www.weedstrong.orgthat includes information and videos about how to identify symptoms of a stroke using the acronym "FAST" where F=Face (drooping), A=Arms (does one arm drift downward after raising both arms), S=Speech (is speech slurred or strange) and T=Time to call 911.
"We have participated in many brewfests and tasting since the company first launched its Weed Amber Ale in July 2012", said Heidi Weed. "These events are frequented by the growing number of craft beer lovers and many people have asked us about an IPA. These people are also surprised to learn the story behind Weed beer including how it is named after the town of Weed, California and Mike Weed and they are also surprised on how good it tastes. It's a catchy name with an excellent taste to back it up. We are excited about the IPA launch and plan to build our business here in CT before expanding into more eastern states."
Mike's family and friends are planning a special fundraising event during stroke awareness month of May - Weedstock II, will be held on May 31st at Mixville Park in Cheshire from 12-6pm with 6 bands, Weed beer on tap, food and fun for the whole family. Tickets are $20 in advance and children 13 and under are free. $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.weedstrong.org.
