From Mustang:
Words cannot adequately express our excitement to finally be brewing again in Oklahoma City. As most of you know, we lost our OKCity Brewing facility as a result of tornado damage on May 31, 2013. It was a complete loss except for one fermenter. Since that time we have been brewing at the mercy of others through contracts in Oklahoma and Wisconsin. It was not a profitable way to function, but it kept beer on the shelves while we rebuilt. For the past 348 days, we cut costs, dug into our own pockets, borrowed money from investors, went to the bank, depended upon business partners and contractors to allow us longer payment terms...anything we could do to keep this company alive and our team employed. Our employees, friends, fans, and family stuck with us the whole way. For that, we cannot say THANK YOU enough.
We lost a few good folks along the way who will, sadly, not be with us to celebrate our re-opening. Dennis Schoelen (Tim's dad, who taught him to brew) and Blake Chappell (in whose garage we brewed the first test batches) will forever be in our hearts. Their legacy lives on in Mustang Brewing Company.
Our first mash-in this morning was not without its challenges. There are some kinks to work out in the new system - but we did it! We are not out of the clear yet. We are still awaiting payment from the insurance company for Loss of Income over the past year. We owe plenty of folks repayment for their services and patience in getting us through. However, WE ARE BREWING BEER AGAIN IN OUR OWN FACILITY!
We built this company on the premise of making really good, sessionable, craft beers. '66 (a Silver medal winner) and Washita Wheat (a three-time Gold medal winner) have been great sellers for us. With the rebuilding of the company, you will see a few changes over the next few months. We will still make sessionable beers, but will also be introducing a whole new line of hop-forward, limited releases in our Unbridled Series. There are great things in store for the SaddleBag Series, as well. The idea is to make exceptional, innovative brews that will keep Mustang at the tops of minds of craft beer aficionados across the country. Stay tuned for more news over the next couple of months.
Again, thank you for sticking with us! We hope you can make the Grand Re-Opening Party this Friday. Cheers!
