From Baxter:
Welcoming The Daughters of Poseidon
DC Brau and Baxter have been friends since both breweries were founded. Luke, Baxter’s founder and president, lived in DC as a kid, and with that connection got to know DC Brau as soon as it opened. When we first talked to DC Brau about doing a collaboration brew, we wanted to use an ingredient that was common to both places, and oysters came to mind. So we put 800 pounds of whole oysters into the mash of Daughters of Poseidon.
We know what you’re thinking… Yes, seriously. Oysters. Closer to an IPA than a stout, Daughters of Poseidon is well balanced between toasty, slightly roasty maltiness, and a big citrus and pine hop character; the dark malts add color and flavor, and the oysters contribute a subtle briny flavor to the beer. The Baxter cans of Daughters of Poseidon are brewed in Lewiston, and DC Brau’s in the capital – the recipe is the same in each location, except the DC Brau version uses Chesapeake oysters, and the Baxter version uses oysters from Maine. Daughters of Poseidon pairs well with steak and lamb, burgers, Mexican, chowders and stews, clams, mussels, and, of course… oysters.
Look for Daughters of Poseidon in 16oz cans and on draft starting early June, and don't miss out on these chances to taste the beer right out of the gate (founders & brewers from both breweries will be on hand at all events):
+ Deep Ellum (Boston) on 5/29 > both versions available
+ American Craft Beer Festival (Boston) on 5/30-31 > both versions available
+ Release Party @ Baxter on 6/1 > be the first to buy cans of Daughters of Poseidon (and eat fresh oysters!)
Summer Swelter Release Party w/ the Sea Dogs @ Hadlock Field, 5/16
Join us at Hadlock Field on Fri, May 16 as we say hello to summer with the Portland Sea Dogs. We’ll be kicking off the season with a special Summer Swelter Release Party at the field.
The First Base Plaza area will host a special “hoppy” hour from 4:30-6pm with a $4 drink special on all Baxter beers, and the Baxter crew will be on hand to talk all things beer with Sea Dog fans. We’ll then enjoy a great night of baseball as the Sea Dogs take on the Trenton Thunder starting at 6pm. And yep, the seats are sweet: there will be reserved Baxter Box Seats on the first base side.
You can purchase a special discounted ticket at this link right here(print the tickets out right at home!).
In case all this beer & baseball isn't enough fun for you, yes... there will be fireworks following the game!
