Klarkopf - The Traditional Swiss Cure For Hangovers - A First Sampling

image
I recently received a sample of a product new to the U.S…Klarkopf.  Billed as a traditional Swiss hangover remedy, new to the U.S., this powdered product is packaged really nicely so I couldn’t resist trying it out.

Now let me admit up front that I’m not typically a hangover sort of guy, so I’ll give you my impressions after a Saturday night of drinking at home, however your mileage (and consumption) may vary.

Klarkopf comes to the U.S. courtesy of Swiss Alpine Organics and it is available in individually wrapped packets at a price of $9.99 for 6 packets with quantity discounts.  The Klarkopf itself is a powder that contains medicinal herbs, essential amino acids and added vitamins that act together to protect the liver and increase it’s ability to process alcohol.

Now I know my readers are already asking three questions:

1) What’s In It?

2) What’s It Taste Like?

and
3) Does it work?

First up Klarkopf contains NAC (Essential amino acid), Dandelion root extract, Gypsyweed extract, L-Glutimine, St. Mary Thistle extract, Asparagus root extract, Prickly pear extract, European Elder flower extract, Lady’s Mantle extract and Honey Powder.

You can take the power directly or mix it in water like I did.  It tastes like honey, so the flavor is pretty pleasant and pretty easy to drink even after a night of drinking.  Swiss Alpine Organics recommends taking one packed before drinking and one before bed so that’s what I did.  They also say you can take one packet before bed and one in the morning if you like.

So how did it work?  I drank one packet at 5PM Saturday night and followed that with 5 beers (averaging about 6% ABV each) and dinner in there somewhere as well.  While I didn’t notice any real affects, I also woke up with NO hangover.  While I’m no scientist and there’s no telling if I would have had a hangover this morning or not anyway, I definitely did NOT have one.

I’ll follow up and try it again in the future and report back what I find.  Please check this out for yourself and let me know what you think.  Klarkopf can be purchased here.
