has announced the 2013 fall release of Deceit, a Belgian-Style Golden Ale. Deceit won a gold medal at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival® in the Belgian-Style Strong Specialty Ale category.
Funkwerks’ gold medal award-winning Deceit is inspired by Belgian Tripels and Golden Strong Ales. Deceit is a Belgian-Style Golden Ale that is deceptively palatable as the alcohol percentage is masked by complex characteristics introduced by our unique Belgian yeast strain. It pours with an alluring golden color and shimmering white head. Aromas of spice and fruity esters lead to flavors of pineapple, pear, and citrus accompanied by a sweet tartness.
“We named it Deceit because it’s deceptively easy to drink even though it has a rather high alcohol by volume at nine percent,” said Gordon Schuck, Funkwerks Co-Founder/Owner and Head Brewer. “Your first sip will introduce a slight spice that compliments the citrus notes carrying the beer to a dry and rewarding finish.”
Deceit is best served at 50 degrees and pairs exceptionally well with mushroom-sage stuffing and turkey. As a signature seasonal release, Deceit is widely distributed in bars, restaurants and liquor stores across Colorado, Nebraska, and Arizona. Deceit is poured on draft and available in bottles at the Funkwerks taproom.
“We’ve redesigned the Deceit label for enhanced brand recognition” added Brad Lincoln, Funkwerks Co-Founder/Owner. “With increased distribution and production it’s essential to have some consistency for our customers. We debuted the new format this past July on Provincial, our summer release, and it’s been well-received. Look for new labels on our flagship Saison and Tropic King next.”
Funkwerks will be at booth M16 at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival, October 10-12 in Denver, CO.
