Boulder Beer Recalls 2013 Bottles of Obovoid For Over Carbonation

Boulder Beer Company is conducting a voluntarily recall of certain lots of Obovoid Oak-Aged Oatmeal Stout in 22 oz bottles, and certain Brewer’s Dozen Variety Packs containing Obovoid Oak-Aged Oatmeal Stout 12 oz. bottles, due to over carbonation. This product may not meet Boulder Beer’s quality standards and, as a precaution, we have decided to remove any inventory of these packages from retail shelves.

The products subject to this recall were manufactured between the dates of 2-11-2013 and 2-27-2013 and were distributed nationwide through select retail stores. The following lot codes and dates are affected:

  • Obovoid 22 oz bottles:
    • Lot 13042 with a sell by date of 2-11-2014
    • Lot 13058 with a sell by date of 2-27-2014
  • Brewers Dozen:
    • Lot 13056 with a sell by date of June 10, 2013
    • Lot 13070 with a sell by date of June 24, 2013
    • Lot 13071 with a sell by date of June 25, 2013

The sell by date is located on the shoulder of each bottle, and on each case box. All other Obovoid Oak-Aged Oatmeal Stout product with sell by dates outside of the ranges noted above is not part of the recall and is safe to consume.

Consumers: if you have this product in your home, do not attempt to transport it or return it to your retail store. We kindly ask you NOT to place any full and unopened bottles of the affected product in the dumpster, or a trash can. Please dispose of the product by following the steps below:

· Before opening any bottles of the affected product, please put protective gloves and eye wear on

· Wrap each bottle in a heavy towel and slowly open it, releasing the carbonation by carefully releasing the cap

· Once you have poured out the liquid in the bottle, feel free to recycle or dispose of the bottle

The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
