PA Senator Bob Casey Visits Allentown Brew Works To Promote The Small Brewer Reinvestment and Expanding Workforce Act

imageFrom Lehigh Valley Live:

The senator was in town to meet with the Fegley family, who own Brew Works, and talk up the Small Brewer Reinvestment and Expanding Workforce Act.

Casey, D-Pa., said the Senate bill would halve the excise tax that small breweries pay on the first 60,000 barrels of beer they produce each year, cutting it from $7 to $3.50. There are 31 gallons of beer in a barrel, he said.

Jeff Fegley, who with his family opened Bethlehem Brew Works in 1998 and Allentown Brew Works in 2007, said the bill would save the brewery between $15,000 and $18,000 annually. That money, he said, would be used to hire a part-time brewer.
