(DEL MAR, CA - June 19, 2013) — Don't miss this hops-and-barley-lovers festival, taking place Friday, June 21, through Sunday, June 23, at the 2013 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons/Sav-on. The 7th Annual San Diego International Beer Competition & Festival is one of the largest in the country and included 922 entries from 19 countries and 22 states in the U.S. The festival will feature over 400 selections from around the world.
"Best of Show" and "Champion Brewery" Awards will be announced on Saturday, June 22, at 12:30 p.m. in the Del Mar Arena.
San Diego County brews/breweries that received high marks include: "Shake Your Moneymaker" from Acoustic Ales Brewing Experiment; "Longfin Lager" and "Calico Amber Ale" from Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits; "Flanders Drive (Sour Red Ale)" and "Le Freak" from Green Flash Brewing Co.; "Red Plant Rye" from Intergalactic Brewing Company; "Karl Strauss 23rd Anniversary Old Ale" from Karl Strauss Brewing Company; "Thunderweizen Ale" from Lightning Brewery; "Riverwalk Blonde" and "Danger Ranger" from Manzanita Brewing Company; "Low and Slow" from Monkey Paw Brewing Co.; "Dude" from Oceanside Ale Works; "Deez Smokin' Nuts" from Pizza Port Brewing Company Carlsbad; "Bacon and Eggs" from Pizza Port Ocean Beach Brewing Company; "Ruby Red" from Prohibition Brewing Company; "Rock Bottom Kolsch" from Rock Bottom Brewery Gaslamp; "The Butcher" from Societe Brewing Co.; and "Schwarz be with you Black Lager" from Stumblefoot Brewing Co.

General admission to the San Diego International Beer Festival, held in the Del Mar Arena, is priced at $55 per person and includes Fair and Festival admission, and unlimited one-ounce beer samples. The VIP Brewers Lounge includes Fair admission and Festival admission, half-hour early Festival admission, six-ounce souvenir glass to use for unlimited beer samplings, access to a special lounge area featuring specialty beers and food stations for the first two hours of each session, and is priced at $90 per person. The 2013 San Diego County Fair will run for 24 days opening Saturday, June 8, to Thursday, July 4. The Fair will be closed Mondays except July 1. Gates open daily at 11 a.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and Monday, July 1; and 10 a.m., Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursday, July 4. Admission is $14 for adults; $8 for ages 6-12 and 62 and older; free for ages 5 and younger.
