From Karl Strauss:

Jun. 20, 2013 - SAN DIEGO -- Karl Strauss Brewing Company was recently awarded five medals and an honorable mention at this year’s highly competitive Los Angeles International Commercial Craft Beer Competition. This marks ten big wins for the company so far this year, including the 15th medal for its bestseller, Red Trolley Ale. “We are stoked to see Red Trolley doing so well at competitions,” says Paul Segura, Brewmaster, Karl Strauss Brewing Company. “We’ve been brewing Red Trolley since 1989 and people still dig it. Sales for Red Trolley are up 35% over last year and don’t show any signs of slowing.”

There were 647 entries in the competition this year and Karl Strauss won for six of its fourteen entries. The company won gold medals for its original brew, Karl Strauss Amber, as well as its 24th Anniversary Flanders-style Ale and Off the Rails—an imperialized version of Red Trolley. Bronze medals were awarded to Red Trolley Ale and Boardwalk Black Rye IPA, while Wreck Alley Imperial Stout took an honorable mention.

“The Los Angeles Beer Competition has gained a lot of recognition and we’re proud of what these medals stand for. Our recent wins give us the momentum we need as we prepare for the Great American Beer Festival this fall,” says Segura.
