GRAND JUNCTION, CO, May 3, 2013/mbb/ – On May 13 there will be a simultaneous tapping at nine different Colorado locations of an all-female collaboration brew that took place at Kannah Creek Brewing Company. The collaboration beer is a cherry blossom saison aptly named Fleurs de Cerisier.
Eight female brewers and brewery representatives joined Kannah Creek Brewing Company’s female brewer, Emma Faulkner, on April 21to participate in Colorado’s 2nd all-female collaboration brew. The brewing session lasted about eight hours, and the brewing process takes about two additional weeks before the beer is ready to tap.
The women in attendance decided to tap the collaboration beer on the first day of American Craft Beer Week, May 13-19. The 8th annual American Craft Beer Week is an opportunity for craft beer lovers all across the U.S. to celebrate the more than 2,400 small and independent brewers that help shape America’s vast craft beer culture. “We wanted a way to celebrate craft beer and to contribute to the week as female brewers,” Faulkner stated.
Kannah Creek Brewing Company will tap their portion of the collaboration brew at 3pm on Monday the 13. The other confirmed tapping locations are Boulder Beer, Hand Made Liquid & Solids (Oskar Blues Brewery), and The Vail Ale House representing Great Divide Brewing Company. The five other participating breweries have yet to announce the locations where they will tap the Fleurs de Cerisier.
Proceeds from this collaboration brew will be donated to the Pink Boots Society. “The Pink Boots Society was created to empower women beer professionals to advance their careers in the Beer Industry through Education,” according to the mission statement on the Pink Boots Society website (pinkbootssociety.org).
Participating breweries include: Kannah Creek Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, Odell Brewing Company, Ska Brewing Company, Wynkoop Brewing Company, Revolution Brewing, Prost Brewing Company, Great Divide Brewing Company, Boulder Beer, and Funkwerks.
