Last year we partnered up with a local Colorado race team for the 2012 season. This year, we’re doublin’ down with a race team program in both Colorado and North Carolina (nearby our new production brewery in Brevard) and sending race car number 95 to roar around some Southeastern tracks as well!
The car’s first appearance east of the Rockies will be at the famed Hickory Motor Speedway for the Easter Bunny 150 this Saturday, March 30.
Our guy Neal Price, leading the Oskar Blues side of the partnership and one helluva race car fanatic, is super excited to include North Carolina, the home of racing.
According to Neal, the Oskar Blues Dodge is part of a Super Late Model Stock Car team owned by Kevin and Melissa Steinke of Rocky Mountain Motorsports and based in Colorado. Trey Gibson, a native of Easley, South Carolina, will drive the race car in the five Southeast races (schedule of all 2013 races below).
Gibson, twenty years old now, says he’s been racing since he was 8 years old when he started with go-karts on a dirt track! Fuh-CAN-eh, man!
Kevin Steinke will be traveling east to direct Gibson in the PASS races (Pro All Star Series). Experienced racer Cris Muhler pilots the car on its home track at Colorado National Speedway.
Why, Oskar Blues, you may ask, are you involved in a race car partnership? Let’s just say that when Dale got an adrenaline-pumping taste of the sport from the passenger seat of a race car on the Colorado Speedway, it was all over!
No. 95 and Trey Gibson will be at the Brevard brewery on Thursday, March 28, for a meet and greet. The night will include live music from The Hogtown Squealers, munchies from The Flying Falafel Brothers, and, of course, freshly brewed Oskar Blues beers!
