BEND, OR (March 20, 2013/mbb/) – Drink Tanks has spent two years developing a better beer growler and has turned to online funding through Kickstarter.com to make the dream a reality. Kickstarter backers have given an overwhelming response. Within three days, the company had met their $30,000 funding goal. In less than a week, they doubled the initial goal, raising $60,000. Today the company has been on Kickstarter for one week and has raised $75,000. “The power of crowd-funding is amazing,” said Nicholas Hill, owner of Drink Tanks. The campaign is still active and runs through April 15.

The product that has so many people excited is a beer growler that keeps beer fresh, cold, and carbonated for 24 hours. Drink Tanks uses stainless steel and food-grade silicone in the construction of the growler so the taste of the beer is left unaltered. A double wall vacuum-sealed construction keeps beverages colder much longer than conventional glass or single-wall metal growlers. Drink Tanks is also offering an additional Keg Tap Lid system that seals the growler and uses standard CO2 cartridges to turn the growler in to a mini-keg. The growler’s design is protected by three pending patents.

Kickstarter.com has become a place where anyone can submit their business idea and hope for funding by the online community who are interested in the project. These ‘backers’ pledge an amount of money toward the project and in exchange are usually promised something, like a growler. If the company reaches the funding goal, the backers are charged for their pledged amount. If the goal isn’t reached, no money changes hands. “It’s great for a business like ours, without it we wouldn’t be able to start production. We’re well on our way now.” Hill said, with a slight smile.

Drink Tanks is continuing to take more pledges from backers and will continue to do so through April 15. Backers willing to pledge will be among the first to own a growler and will be supporting a small, local, independent business. “We’ve had great feedback from local microbreweries, home brewers, and beer lovers. The feedback we’ve been getting is encouraging but to see the online community willing to support us with pledges gives a real validation to what we’re offering. Now we can’t wait to start production and shipping.” said Hill.
