NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/mbb/ -- Coors Light, official beer sponsor of the New York Giants, is partnering with the legendary football team to clean up historic Thomas Jefferson Park on Tuesday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Alumni members of the Giants David Tyree and Antonio Pierce will be on hand to help rejuvenate and restore the park, which opened to the public in 1905.
"The goal here is to not just pick up trash in the park, but to beautify the park so it reflects the true beauty and vibrancy of Spanish Harlem," said Drew Moench, MillerCoors field marketing manager in New York. "We will bring 35 volunteers and make a monetary donation to the park district to cover any the materials we use on this project."
The project at the park is an extension of the MillerCoors commitment to environmental stewardship and its communities. Each September, the company celebrates Great Water Month, in which employees from across the country team up with local nonprofit organizations to improve local rivers. The Spanish Harlem Community Cleanup project was spearheaded by the local MillerCoors team to fall in line with some of the company's national initiatives. The partnership was organized through Partnerships for Parks, the city's leading resource for volunteers in parks. Partnerships for Parks' corporate volunteer program enables New York City's most successful companies to help keep their neighborhood parks beautiful, while providing a unique team building opportunity for employees.
