Aardwolf Brewing Coming To San Marco, FL Early March 2013

Good news for craft beer lovers in the Jacksonville FL area….Aardwolf Brewing is coming to San Marco.  This from the Jacksonville.com:

Aardwolf Brewing got its building permit the week before last for $300,000 worth of renovations to the old tile building at 1461 Hendricks Ave. It’s the work of two partners: Michael Payne who’s handling the brewing end, and Preben Olsen, who’s handling the business end.

Payne got the brewing going at Brewers Pizza in Orange Park before leaving to start up Aardwolf. Olsen is the beer buyer at Grassroots Natural Market.

The plan is for a brewery and tap room, along the lines of Bold City Brewery, Intuition Ale Works and Green Room Brewing. There will be no food, but Olsen said it will be able to have food trucks on the property and accommodate caterers.

Payne said the brewing equipment should arrive by the end of the month and thinks that Aardwolf will be open and brewing by the end of the year. They’d be able to do it earlier, he said, but will have to wait on permits.
Update 21 Feb 2013 via Jacksonville.com:

Now it's February, and owners Michael Payne and Preben Olsen say the tap room should open in early March. You have to give them a break on the delays, though. Converting the 1920s municipal ice house on Hendricks Avenue into a brewery is a sizeable job.
