PHILADELPHIA, PA – Tickets are now available online for the third-annual Forum of the Gods, a round-table talk between some of the biggest names in brewing that has become one of the signature events of Philly Beer Week (PBW). This year’s Forum will be held on Wednesday, June 6 beginning at 2 p.m. at Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant (120 Market Street, 215-925-7691). Tickets are $25 per person, and include admission as well as samples from each brewery represented. As in the past, tickets are expected to sell out quickly for this signature event, and can be purchased online at www.phillybeerweek.org; tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.

“The Forum of the Gods is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sit down with some of the best and brightest in brewing and pick their brains about what makes truly great beer happen,” says Executive Director Don Russell. “This frank, fun and educational round table talk has been a highlight since it debuted in 2010, and it gets better every year.

This year’s “Gods” include: Colby Chandler of San Diego’s Ballast Point; Mark Edelson of Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey’s Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant; Rosemarie Certo of Philadelphia’s Dock Street; Paul Kavulak of Nebraska Brewing Company; and Greg Koch of California’s Stone Brewing Company. Guests will enjoy samples of each brewery’s specialties as the Gods address their questions and offer an in-depth look into the brewing business and the art of creating craft beer.

For those who are already making plans to attend other PBW signature events, such as the kick-off Opening Tap, the $100 per person VIP Opening Tap / Forum of the Gods Package is a no-brainer: it includes Opening Tap admission, access to this year’s first-ever VIP Session in advance of the official “first tap” of PBW 2012 and guaranteed seating at the Forum of the Gods.

Philly Beer Week 2012 will be held from Friday, June 1 until Sunday, June 10. PBW is a 10-day celebration of “America’s Best Beer-Drinking City,” kicks off on the first Friday in June annually. Established in 2008, it’s the largest beer celebration of its kind in the United States, featuring hundreds of festivals, dinners, tours, pub crawls, tastings and meet-the-brewer nights throughout Greater Philadelphia. PBW highlights the region’s diverse beer scene – its world-class breweries, neighborhood taverns, trend-setting restaurants and rich beer culture and history.

The With Love Beer Garden will be open to the public, daily from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., and is a pay-as-you-go event.

“The With Love Beer Garden at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia debuted last year with an amazing line-up of local beer and brewers. It was an incredible success with more than 1,600 people visiting the garden and enjoying over 4,000 beers over the five-day run. We can’t wait for this year,” says PBW Executive Director Don Russell.

Each day, visitors to the With Love Beer Garden will be able to “Meet the Brewer” and enjoy several of their beers and the special brew they’ve brought to the garden that night. The lineup will be:

  • Monday, June 4Bill Covaleski, of Victory Brewing Company.  Guests will taste Victory’s wildly popular “Summer Love Ale,” brewed in conjunction with GPTMC’s With Love, Philadelphia XOXO® marketing campaign.  This locally brewed beer (from nearby Chester County) features pale malts, German hops and water from the Brandywine Creek – and will be available in bottles in 29 states, serving as a tasty ambassador for PBW and Philadelphia.
  • Tuesday, June 5: Join Philadelphia Brewing Company as they pour some of their tasty Philly-centric named beers such as Pennsylvania Pale Ale, Walt Wit, and their Seasonal Fleur de Lehigh.
  • Wednesday, June 6: Join Prism, Evil Genius and Round Guys as they serve their Philly Beer Week collaboration beer, Brewvolution No. 1., a 7.6%, 76 IBU Belgian Black IPA, as well as other varieties from each brewery.
  • Thursday, June 7: Brian O’Reilly, of Sly Fox Beer. Join Brian as he challenges his fellow Philly brewers for a game of “Can Jam” in the garden while enjoying some of Sly Fox’s award-winning canned beers.
  • Friday, June 8: Rosemarie Certo, of Dock Street Brewing Company. Dock Street and Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia will unveil the latest in their line of collaboration beers on the last night of the With Love Beer Garden. All we know is that it will be a summer style and it will be delicious!

For visitors who would like a bite with their beer, Chef Gonzalez will prepare a special menu showcasing his interpretations of cook-out favorites. Dishes may include (subject to change): The Beer Garden Burger, Green Meadow Farm Cheddar, Grilled Applewood Bacon, Dill Pickle and Special Sauce; Shrimp Taco with Avocado, Pickled Red Cabbage, Cilanto, Lime and Jalapeno Crema; Port Richmond Keilbasa with Charred Vidalia Onion and Whole Grain Mustard on a Warm Torpedo Roll; and Lancaster Chicken Wings with Siracha-Honey Glaze and Maytag Blue Dressing.

“Barley, hops and weeknights in a beautiful garden – it’s a perfect Philadelphia recipe,” says Meryl Levitz, president and CEO of GPTMC. A Philly Beer Week partner from the start, the tourism corporation will coordinate a give-away for visitors to the With Love Beer Garden:  guests who “check in” on Foursquare or Facebook will receive a complimentary Summer Love Ale beer koozie. Brewed in honor of the With Love campaign, Victory Brewing’s popular Summer Love Ale has just returned for the third season.
