Brooklyn Brewery Chief Collects Super Bowl Bet At Harpoon Brewery In Boston
Steve Hindy Heads to Boston for Harpoon Co-Founders Dan Kenary & Rich Doyle and their staff to don Giants jerseys and pour Brooklyn for their visitors.
When the Giants defeated the 49ers to face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, Kenary phoned his friend Steve Hindy, president of Brooklyn Brewery, and arranged a wager. The terms: if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, Brooklyn will pour a keg of Harpoon IPA in their tap room and if the Giants win, a keg of Brooklyn BLAST! will be tapped in Harpoon’s Boston tasting room.
Kenary was seeking revenge for a 2008 bet that had Harpoon pouring Brooklyn Lager for a week when the Giants beat New England in that first Super Bowl match-up. The Giants jerseys are an added feature.
Hindy is flying up from New York Wednesday to help Kenary and Doyle tap the keg of Brooklyn in the Boston brewery’s tasting room. The Brooklyn keg will remain on tap until it is empty. The 2008 wager marked the first time in Harpoon’s history that a non-Harpoon beer was poured from their tasting room taps.
DATE: Wednesday, February 8th, 2012
TIME: The keg-tapping will take place at Noon
LOCATION: The Harpoon Brewery, 306 Northern Avenue, Boston
