Here’s another cool keg-only beer coming out of Sierra Nevada Brewing called Red-oric IPA (8% ABV). So I get the play on words Red-oric = Rhetoric…but there has to be more beyond it just being a Red IPA so stay tuned.
Update 1/19 from The Star Press:
During the two-day camp, participants create a unique beer, one of their own choosing. For Stephens and Cox it was one they dubbed Red-oric, kind of a play on the word rhetoric.
How did it turn out?
"
It's a very red beer," Stephens said, thumbing up a snapshot on his digital camera, a glass of the stuff looking almost like cranberry juice. "It's hoppy, in the tradition of an imperial IPA (India pale ale).
"
It also has a kick.
"I shot for nine and a quarter (percent alcohol content)," Stephens said, smiling. "I wanted a bigger beer."
Almost without exception, brews created at the camp are "a one-time beer," Thiel said, though there is a remote chance they could be added to Sierra Nevada's lineup if proven to be popular enough.
Still, if you want to sample the men's beer camp handiwork, you can do so beginning about 8 p.m. Feb. 11, when they will tap the four-and-a-half kegs of Red-oric that the brewery will ship to the Heorot.
