WXPN Partners with Philadelphia Brewing Co. to Produce World Cafe® Broadcaster Brown Ale Limited-time beer brewed in honor of the World Cafe® 20th anniversary
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. September 22, 2011 – WXPN (http://www.xpn.org), the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and producer of the World Cafe®, today announced that it has teamed up with Philadelphia Brewing Co. to produce the World Cafe® Broadcaster Brown Ale. Brewed in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the World Cafe® radio program, the Broadcaster Brown Ale will be available on draught at select bars throughout the greater Philadelphia region beginning at the end of September.
“I never would have guessed that World Cafe® would have its own commemorative beer when we started the program 20 years ago,” said World Cafe® host David Dye. “We’re excited to have a great local brewer like Philadelphia Brewing Co. on board to celebrate this anniversary. I can’t wait for fans to taste our own World Cafe® beer!”
The Broadcaster Brown Ale is a medium-bodied, deep red-brown hued ale brewed with American hops and oats along aromatic German dark malts.
Alcohol Content: 5.0 abv
IBU's: 28
Color: Deep Ruby-Brown
Hops: Bravo, Centennial, Cascade
Dry Hops: Amarillo, Cascade
Malts: Two-row Pilsner, Dark Munich, CaraMunich, Carafa, Oats

WXPN and Philadelphia Brewing Co. held a celebratory tasting event at the brewery on September 21 where Dye and other station representatives tasted the beer for the first time.

In addition, WXPN has arranged a World Cafe® Broadcaster Brown Ale Beer Week from Octobert 3-6 at regional watering holes where the limited-edition beer will be available. Dye will serve as DJ and guest bartender, playing a special music mix while serving up the World Cafe® brew. All Beer Week events will feature giveaways including World Cafe® Broadcaster Brown Ale Beer pint glasses, Live @ the World Cafe® CDs, music downloads and more.
