We brought you info on the first release from Dock Street & the Four Season’s Hotel called Truffled Old Ale back in January…and now the 2nd release, “Spanish Fly” will be coming Sept 26th. This from Dock St:
Philadelphia, PA – Dock Street Brewing Co. and Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia announce the release of the fourth collaboration beer in ‘A Beer Four All Seasons’ series. Spanish Fly is one of the first beers in the world brewed with aphrodisiacs laced in the recipe. The beer debuts outside at the Swann Terrace on Wednesday, September 26th. Like all other ‘Beer Four All Seasons’ releases, Spanish Fly is limited and available exclusively at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.
“When we met to brainstorm about the fall collaboration beer we agreed that we would make a beer that would evoke and inspire love” said Dock Street’s Rosemarie Certo. “It was a natural progression that as we smelled the herbs from the Four Seasons Rooftop Garden, we chose to add herbal aphrodisiacs to enhance the theme of our beer. Wormwood, yarrow and ginger would definitely lend potency and flavor to the ‘love’ beer.”
At the base, Spanish Fly is a Biere de Garde style, a traditional French farmhouse ale and a specialty of Brewer Scott Morrison. Spanish Fly was brewed with three herbal aphrodisiacs- wormwood, yarrow and ginger- harvested from the rooftop garden at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.
“When we first began our collaboration with Dock Street, we were looking for ways to push the envelope with flavor, starting with our Old Truffled Ale last Winter” says Director of Marketing Ann Armstrong. “Spanish Fly, pushes the envelope in a whole new way, giving us a beer that is sure to arouse one’s senses.”
Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia and Dock Street Brewing Co. officially unveil Spanish Fly on Wednesday, September 26th at the Swann Terrace at 6pm. For that night only, Spanish Fly is available on draft and in bottle. The beer will remain available in champagne style bottles in the Swann Lounge as quantities allow.
