Beck’s - Sapphire Lager

image

It’s not often that we see a new beer coming from Beck’s.  My initial impression was that Anheuser-Busch was adding s Bud Light Platinum beer to the Beck’s line-up, but it turns out that Sapphire refers to the variety of German hops they are using in this lager.  Sapphire will be sold in 12oz bottles and come in at 6% ABV.

  1. Saphir is really a sweet, lovely hop. It was launched commercially maybe 5 years ago. German hop groups are launching new varietals to remind everyone that they know what they're doing! Farmers who grow it have good success whereas Hallertauer Mittlefrüh needs more care and feeding.

  2. Interesting...the descriptor I keep hearing for Sapphir is "buttery" so I'll be interested to try it.
