HERSHEY, PA – Tröegs Independent Brewing announces the return of Field Study Summer IPA, the second beer in its rotating seasonal series. zzubreebym
Inspired by an annual trip to Washington state’s Yakima Valley for hop selection, Field Study began life through the independent brewery’s small-batch Scratch Series.
“Field Study started with Scratch #327, when we first began tinkering with some new hopping techniques,” explains Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner.
After several trials, Tröegs’ brewing team landed on a hop combination of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado to deliver the notes of ripe grapefruit, pear, and melon they were looking to achieve.
For Field Study’s grain bill, Tröegs uses a portion of rustic pale malt grown and harvested in Pennsylvania and produced by Double Eagle Malt just outside Philadelphia, PA.
“We like using local ingredients because it’s easy to try them,” says Trogner. “It’s fun to go out the fields, get our hands a little dirty, and taste the raw ingredients before we use them in a beer.”
With a bright flavor profile, low bitterness, and 6.2% ABV, Field Study appeals to both IPA fans and non-IPA drinkers alike.
Field Study Summer IPA is available on draft and in 12-ounce bottles and cans across the brewery’s entire distribution footprint.
Additionally, look for Field Study in Tröegs’ refreshed Perpetual Exploration variety pack for summer starting next week, also available everywhere Tröegs beer is sold.
Beer drinkers can find Field Study and other Tröegs beers near them using the Tröegs Brew Finder.
