Jester King Releasing Bishop's Barrel No. 26

Between 2012 and 2020, our Bishop's Barrel series ran the gamut of barrel aged beers. Some were big and stout, others tart and fruity. While select styles aged for just a few months, many required years to reach maturity.

Through the years, countless wooden vessels rested in the Saint Arnold Barrel Room as they leisurely went about their work: enhancing and complementing the characteristics of the beers they held.

When we set the series aside after 25 releases, we knew a special beer would one day resurrect it.

Enter Bishop's Barrel No. 26.

Bishop's Barrel No. 26

Simply put, Bishop's Barrel No. 26 was inspired by coffee cocktails and delicious desserts. The result is an Imperial Porter Aged in Bourbon Barrels

with Coffee, Coconut, Vanilla, Orange Peel, and Coriander.

For this release, we aged our Imperial Porter in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels for 14 months to provide the essence of whiskey, vanilla, and wood. Toasted coconut flakes add mouthfeel and impressions of sweetness reminiscent of your favorite German chocolate cake.

Espresso beans provide an added boost of flavor and the subtle use of vanilla, orange peel, and coriander add a nice touch of complexity.

This special release beer weighs in at delicious 11.6% ABV.

You can find Bishop's Barrel No. 26 in individual 12 oz bottles at your favorite grocer, liquor store, or craft beer retailer starting Monday, February 17.
