2 Towns Ciderhouse Wins Best in Show and Inaugural Thumper Award at U.S. Open Cider Championship

Corvallis, OR – November 13, 2024  2 Towns Ciderhouse proudly announces its latest achievement at the 2024 U.S. Open Cider Championship, winning “Best in Show” for their 10th Anniversary Cider,  and six other tasting awards.

Since its founding, the U.S. Open Cider Championship has blossomed into one of the world’s premier cider competitions, now attracting hundreds of entries and marking its 10th anniversary this year. Originally introduced in 2015 as part of the U.S. Open Beer Championship with just eight cider categories, the U.S. Open Cider Championship has since evolved into a prominent, standalone competition evaluating 33 distinct styles of cider. In a fitting full-circle moment, 2 Towns Ciderhouse, named the first Grand National Champion in 2015, has once again claimed top honors with the “Best in Show” title and is proud to receive the inaugural Thumper Award.

The 2024 Thumper Award – Best in Show

Created in memory of Andy “Thumper” Rich, a pioneer in the craft cider world, this distinguished award recognizes the cider chosen as “Best in Show.” The U.S. Open Cider Championship introduced the Thumper Award to celebrate Thumper’s lasting legacy and profound impact on the cider industry. As an additional tribute to his influence, a portion of this year’s proceeds from the competition will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society, honoring Thumper’s contributions and ensuring his memory lives on within the cider community.

“We’re incredibly honored to receive the first Thumper Award at the US Open Cider Championship,” said Lee Larsen, co-founder and CEO of 2 Towns Ciderhouse. “This recognition not only celebrates a milestone for us but also pays homage to a pioneer in the industry whose legacy will continue to inspire the cider community for years to come.”
