From Wallenpaupack Brewing:
Hawley, PA — October 2024 — Wallenpaupack Brewing Company is proud to announce that its Kroon Belgian
Golden Strong Ale has been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal in the Belgian-style Strong Specialty Ale category
at this year’s Great American Beer Festival (GABF), the nation’s most celebrated beer competition. This marks the
brewery’s third GABF medal, following a Bronze Medal win in 2023 for their Activator Doppelbock and a Silver Medal
in 2020 for their English Pale Mild Ale.
The 2024 GABF win follows Kroon’s recent triumph at the 2024 World Beer Cup, where it won the Silver Medal
during the Craft Brewers Conference in Las Vegas this past April. Often referred to as the “Olympics of Beer,” the
World Beer Cup is an international competition that draws thousands of brewery entries, making it one of the
toughest contests in the craft brewing world. Both the GABF and World Beer Cup are organized by the Brewers
Association.
The Great American Beer Festival sees thousands of beer entries from breweries across the U.S. This year, more
than 9,000 entries competed across various style categories, making it the most competitive edition yet. Winning a
medal at the GABF is regarded as one of the highest honors in the brewing industry.
“We introduced Kroon to our portfolio back in March, and it has quickly become a favorite amongst our staff and
customers alike,” said Wallenpaupack Brewing Company’s Head Brewer Logan Ackerley. “The feedback from the
judges at both World Beer Cup and GABF has been truly gratifying and I couldn't be more proud of my production
team and their commitment to producing world-class beer right here in the Poconos”
Wallenpaupack Brewing Company is also excited to announce a recent distribution deal with L.T. Verrastro, which
will provide their beers across an eight-county area in northeastern Pennsylvania. Additionally, their beers are
available through Durdach Brothers, Inc., which services 14 counties in north central Pennsylvania, making
Wallenpaupack’s award-winning lineup more accessible to craft beer fans throughout the region.
