The World Beer Cup awards ceremony was held on April 24, 2024, on the final day of the Craft Brewers Conference® & BrewExpo America® at the Venetian Convention and Expo Center in Las Vegas, NV. Throughout 14 sessions spanning seven days, a panel of 280 judges hailing from 37 countries meticulously evaluated 9,300 entries. Representing 2,060 breweries across 50 nations, this year's World Beer Cup competition solidified its status as the premier international professional beer contest.
“Each award represents not only exceptional quality but also innovation and creativity, driving the global craft beer industry forward,” said Chris Williams, World Beer Cup competition director. “This year's winners exemplify the spirit of craftsmanship and ingenuity and showcase the diverse flavors and techniques that make beer an art form. Colorado Brewers Collect 21 Awards at World Beer Cup®
19 Colorado breweries earned medals at the global beer competition this year
DENVER, CO 1 (April 24, 2024) — The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG) is pleased to congratulate the 19 Colorado breweries that collected a total of 21 awards at the World Beer Cup award ceremony on April 24, 2024 at The Venetian in Las Vegas, NV where awards were given in 110 beer-style categories.
The Brewers Association started the global competition in 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing. World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 280 beer judges from 37 countries. Widely recognized as the “Olympics of Beer,” the World Beer Cup saw an impressive field of 9,300 beers from 2,060 breweries in 50 countries.
“Colorado continues to prove that it’s competitive on the world beer stage. With nine gold medals this year ranging from lagers to Belgian styles, Colorado craft breweries are demonstrating that they can brew alongside the best brewers in the world,” says CBG Executive Director Shawnee Adelson.
Notably this year, seven breweries won their first World Beer Cup awards including Old 121 Brewhouse who had won several homebrew awards for their ESB prior to opening the brewery. Verboten Brewing and Barrel Project and Station 26 Brewing have the longest streaks with three World Beer Cup wins in a row. River North Brewery also won two awards for the second year in a row. Prost Brewing snagged a gold award for Leichtbier in the International Light Lager, which was an impressive win as there were 192 entries making it the 6th most entered category.

THREE SAN DIEGO BREWERIES WIN GOLD MEDALS
AT 2024 WORLD BEER CUP
Local breweries win 14 medals overall at The Olympics of Beer Competitions
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Three San Diego County craft breweries won Gold Medals on Wednesday at the 2024 World Beer Cup, the largest international beer competition often referred to as The Olympics of Beer Competitions.
Coronado Brewing Company won for its Nado in the International Lager category and North Park Beer Company won for its Ice-Fu! in the Hoppy Lager category. Pizza Port Brewing Company won two Golds, one for its Junk In Da Trunkel Dunkel (Ocean Beach brewing location) in the South German-Style Dunkel Weizen category and one for its 24th Annual Strong Ale Festival Blend (Carlsbad brewing facility) in the Wood- And Barrel-Aged Beer category.
Gold Medals are awarded to “world class beers that accurately exemplify the specified style, displaying the proper balance of taste, aroma, and appearance,” according to World Beer Cup judging criteria.
“The gold rush continues to California, and more specifically to San Diego, when it comes to great craft breweries,” said San Diego Brewers Guild Executive Director Erik Fowler. “Winning never gets old, and we are so proud of our hard-working craft brewers who represent the Guild and our region so well on the international stage.”
The medal ceremony took place in Las Vegas as part of the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America, and it featured more than 9,300 beers from 2,600 breweries spanning 50 countries. The Brewers Association, which is a not-for-profit trade association that promotes and protects American craft brewers, hosts the event.
San Diego breweries won 14 medals overall, including five Silver and five Bronze. Local breweries eclipsed last year’s World Beer Cup awards total of 12, including one more Gold Medal.

Golden Stout takes home Silver!
What's the buzz, beer + coffee friends?
In case you missed the wonderful news, we are amped to share that Golden Stout received an insanely huge award last week.
It earned a Silver Medal at the World Beer Cup (pretty much the Academy Awards of the beer industry, no biggie) with 69 total entrants in the Coffee Beer category! Our beloved seasonal stout has had quite the journey in recent years: taking home silver and bronze, respectively, at GABF in 2020 and 2021, PLUS snagging a silver and bronze in the San Diego International Beer Competition in 2020 and 2022. Woohoo!
