Celebrates the 37-Year Career of Industry Legend Tom Gordon, and Appoints Jeffery Adams to Vice President, Commercial Americas

Tom Gordon

NASHVILLE, TN  (February 2, 2024) Gibson Brands, Inc., the world’s most iconic and leading instrument brand, today is celebrating the over 37-year career of one of its own, industry legend Tom Gordon, who will retire as Vice President, Commercial Americas, effective March 31, 2024.

Tom has been instrumental in the success of the Gibson Brands. Throughout his nearly four decades with Gibson, Tom has overseen and grown specialty and key accounts, built high-performing business development teams, and developed the expansion of the brand portfolio across premium distribution channels in the United States, Canada, and Latin America.

Tom joined Gibson in 1986 as a District Sales Manager of the Northwest territory. In 1987, he relocated to the Bay area in California and took over management of the Northern California, Alaska, and Hawaii territories. Tom naturally excelled in cultivating meaningful relationships with dealers and partners. His dedication was recognized in the form of Gibson’s Salesman of the Year award in 1995. By 1996, the United States sales team had grown significantly to 30 business development managers, and Tom took on a new role as Western Sales Manager. He was soon promoted again to Business Development Manager of the entire region West. Later in 2005, Tom relocated to Southern California to manage Guitar Center (Business Development Key Account Director). In 2018, Tom was promoted to BDM Leader Region Americas, and a few years later to VP Commercial Americas.

Tom is not only a musical legend himself, but highly regarded among Gibson’s retail partners, customers, and the entire global Gibson team.

“I have a number of mixed emotions about Tom Gordon’s retirement,” says Cesar Gueikian, President and CEO, Gibson Brands. “I’m grateful for Tom’s contributions to Gibson and music, excited for his new chapter, and sad to see him leave Gibson. We also know Tom will never fully ‘retire’ from Gibson and that he’s only stepping away from his business leadership role. Tom is a passionate musician--this passion he will never retire from--and we can’t wait to enjoy more of the music he will be recording. Thank you, Tom, you have been a great custodian of our iconic history and a steward of our future. Orville would be proud.”

“I want to express my gratitude and appreciation towards Tom and to honor and celebrate his ‘work life’ achievements,” adds Armin Boehm, Chief Commercial Officer, Gibson Brands. “The entire Gibson team is incredibly thankful for Tom’s contributions, and we wish him the best as he spends his days with his family and dedicates more time to his longstanding passion of writing and playing music.”

“My career at Gibson has been beyond rewarding in so many ways,” says Tom Gordon, Vice President of Commercial Americas, Gibson Brands. “I am honored to have been intimately involved in the direction and success of our unique, iconic American brand, and what I have always considered to be the crown jewel of the music instrument industry. From forging close personal relationships with so many in our industry, to building and leading our sales teams, and throw in there guitar model development along the way – as a guitar player, I could not have dreamed of a better way to serve and support the people who will always be part of my life’s journey.”

Jeffery Adams

For the past two years, the Gibson leadership team has worked with Tom to prepare Jeffery Adams for the role of Vice President, Commercial Americas. Gibson is proud to officially announce that Jeffery has permanently stepped into the role, and will continue to report to Armin Boehm, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Gibson Brands.

Jeffery Adams who was previously Director of In-store Experience and Activation at Gibson, will lead the commercial business development team, the dealer product specialists, and the dealer service organization across our retail partners in North and South America. Jeffery will continue to focus on modernizing the Americas commercial organization, including strengthening service and brand experience, and elevating partner and customer engagement. Jeffery’s leadership will be critical in enabling omnichannel growth across the Americas.

Jeffery joined the Gibson team in 2021 and has been a key player in collaborating with the marketing and business development teams to provide an elevated in-store experience for consumers. With his long-standing record in sales, commercial operations, and marketing and 25+ years with AMER SPORTS brands Wilson Sporting Goods, Salomon, and Arc’teryx, Jeffery fully embodies Gibson’s core values of becoming the most relevant, played, and loved music brand, and our opportunity to shape the sound of music and touch people’s lives for the next 130 years and beyond.

“I am excited to elevate and promote Jeffery Adams to Vice President Commercial Americas, and to welcome him as a member of our Gibson Extended Leadership Team,” says Armin Boehm, Chief Commercial Officer, Gibson Brands. “Jeffery’s overall experience as a sales, omnichannel, and marketing expert, as well as successfully serving in multiple leadership roles, uniquely positions him to drive commercial excellence for Gibson Brands in the Americas. I have full confidence in Jeffery’s ability to transform the Commercial team and build the necessary capabilities and processes to set the conditions for future success.”

“First, I would like to celebrate Tom’s fantastic career at Gibson Brands. Tom has tremendously impacted our organization and the music industry, and I’m excited and honored to build upon both his, and the team’s great work,” adds Jeffery Adams incoming Vice President of Commercial Americas at Gibson Brands. “Our Americas commercial team will work tirelessly with our internal and external partners to ensure that fans of all genres and playing levels can access our entire portfolio of products across all channels where our fans shop.”
