There are an incredible number things we love about Blue Ghost, and the relationships and community that have formed over the years are at the foundation of that. There have been many fan favorite beers, creative brews, and tasty food offerings. There have been many great times with friends and neighbors for birthdays, anniversaries, wedding merriments, and end of life celebrations. Many exciting festivals, fun-filled trivia nights, talented bands, and holiday partying. Many fundraisers with a diverse variety of non-profits carrying out important missions in our region. For these times and experiences, we are forever grateful.
We are not unique in the struggles that have led us to this point. Small business owners are some of the hardest working, self-sacrificing, most dedicated people you will ever meet. Your support of their business and dreams means more to them than you can ever imagine. For your support of us, we are eternally thankful.
Being a small business owner, though, also means you sometimes must choose what is best for the business over what is best for your family. We have reached the point with this business where we have had to do that too many times, and have come to the realization that though we love Blue Ghost, the time we must sacrifice with each other and our children, to keep it operating successfully, is costing us a price that we can no longer pay. In the end, the most valuable commodity that any of us have, more valuable than any amount of money, is time. We are in tears as we write this, because it is so very painful and sad to give up something that you have poured your life into for so many years, that your employees rely on, and that so many people also love. We know, though, we will never regret being able to spend more time with each other and our children while they are still under our roof. We will never be able to buy back the time as a family that we would have to sacrifice to keep things going as they are.
So, as we embark on our final chapter with Blue Ghost, we thank you from the bottom of our heart for all the love and support you have shown us over the last nearly eight years. We will be continuing operations as normal at this time, and expect to be open and operating for the foreseeable future. We will update you when we know something definitive. And we expect to have a final celebration with you before we (hopefully) pass the torch.
With gratitude,
Zach & Nicole
