Oregon Brewers Guild Celebrates 19th Anniversary of Fest
The Oregon Brewers Guild’s Portland Fresh Hops Festival will be celebrating its 19th anniversary at the Oaks Amusement Park location on September 29th and 30th.
“Fresh hop season is such an exciting time of year and we look forward annually to showcasing fresh hop beers made by our Oregon brewers,” stated Christina LaRue, Executive Director of the Oregon Brewers Guild.
These beers are special as they are brewed with hops that were picked from the bine, usually within 24 hours, which offers unique flavor and aroma attributes that only fresh hops can bring to a beer.
“Here in Oregon, not only do our brewers have direct access to some of the finest hops in the world,” stated LaRue, “but during fresh hop season, those hops are going from bine to brew in a matter of hours…you just don’t get any fresher.”
The Guild will also be releasing the next fresh hop iteration of their State of Excitement Collaboration Series at the festival, which will be on tap, as well as available in package for purchase to take home. This year's collaboration will be brewed by Von Ebert Brewing and includes participation by twenty-four OBG member breweries.
An “Early Bird” ticket special will be running online August 22nd through September 10th. You can find additional information, as well as pricing and the list of participating breweries via the Oregon Brewers Guild website https://www.oregoncraftbeer.org/pdx-fresh-hops-festival.
Proceeds from the event benefit the nonprofit Guild’s efforts to promote and protect the Oregon craft beer industry.
