Burlington, VT – Switchback Brewing Co. claimed platinum and bronze awards at the 2023 Craft Brewers Conference. The brewery took home a bronze award in the 2023 World Beer Cup®, a global beer competition that evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers. Awards were given in 103 beer-style categories during the World Beer Cup award ceremony on May 10, 2023, at the Music City Center in Nashville. zzubreebym
Switchback received a bronze award in the Historical beer style category for Katie’s Love Poem, a light and lofty Grodziskie, Polish wheat beer, with a classic touch of smoke. The award-winning beer is part of the Flynn on Fire Smoked Beer Initiative that explores the endless possibilities of smoked malt. Each of the expertly crafted beers in this series proves that, when done right, smokiness adds complexity and character. Brewmaster and co-founder, Bill Cherry started the Flynn on Fire Smoked Beer Series in 2017 and it now consists of eleven smoked beers with more in development every year.
World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 272 beer judges from 26 countries. Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer,” the 2023 World Beer Cup featured 10,213 entries from 2,376 breweries in 51 countries.
Presented by the Brewers Association, the World Beer Cup is held annually to celebrate the art and science of brewing by recognizing outstanding achievement. For additional information, visit the World Beer Cup website.
Switchback also was awarded a platinum award for their DIPA Cat series at the 2023 Craft Beer Marketing Awards, which gives recognition to the best of the best in the marketing realm of the brewing industry. The brewery's ever-growing DIPA Cat series features six distinct characters – Octane Cat, Cashmere Cat, Calypso Cat, Galaxy Cat, El Dorado Cat and Wai-iti Cat - with more added throughout the year. Each release features a new Cat with a unique personality and illustrated artwork that comes alive as you turn the can.
