From Anheuser-Busch:
As the CEO of a company founded in America’s heartland more than 165 years ago, I am responsible for ensuring every consumer feels proud of the beer we brew. zzubreebym
We’re honored to be part of the fabric of this country. Anheuser-Busch employs more than 18,000 people and our independent distributors employ an additional 47,000 valued colleagues. We have thousands of partners, millions of fans and a proud history supporting our communities, military, first responders, sports fans and hard-working Americans everywhere.
We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.
My time serving this country taught me the importance of accountability and the values upon which America was founded: freedom, hard work and respect for one another. As CEO of Anheuser-Busch, I am focused on building and protecting our remarkable history and heritage.
I care deeply about this country, this company, our brands and our partners. I spend much of my time traveling across America, listening to and learning from our customers, distributors and others.
Moving forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to bring great beers to consumers across our nation.
Brendan Whitworth
CEO, Anheuser-Busch

UPDATE: 28 April 2023:
Dylan Mulvaney has broken her silence and responded to the controversy. Watch the video here on Instagram
Did they fire the idiot that brought this mess on.
ReplyDeleteI guess it depends on who you're referring to. You mean someone at AB?
ReplyDeleteWhy settle? Drink a great tasting beer that is actually American owned, ( unlike Anheuser -Busch ) drink Yuengling.
ReplyDeleteAB is learning again the hard lesson of not straying into societal issues. In the late 1960s the Peter Hand Brewing Co of Chicago went into bankruptcy when it sponsored a political commentator whose misguided diatribe against white working-class homeowners who refused to sell their homes to 'blockbusters', calling them racist. Its Beer "Meister Brau" was Chicago's number one selling beer. By the end of a year it disappeared off shelves and out of taverns, because of 'blowback' from the commentary. Beware who you hire. Picked up by Miller Brewing, it struggled until 1975 when it was discontinued.
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious. Business 101 - "Know your customers". Despite the fact that the A-B CEO claims to "spend much of (his) time travelling across America listing to and learning from the customers", it's obvious they could not possibly be more out of touch. Seriously, how much business did Bud Light think they'd gain from the trans community vs how much business they stood to lose from their regular Johnny Sixpack customer base as a result of this campaign? Did they really believe that their core base would "be proud of" drinking their beer from a Dylan Mulvaney can? This level of stupidity boggles the mind.
ReplyDeleteActually the Dylan Bud Light can was just a gift to Dylan and it is not going into distribution...although this may change their mind. Overall, I don't think this will hurt AB very much and in the end I think it will actually help them. While I may not drink their beer, I'm glad to see them supporting more communities beyond their core Joe Sixpack community. If you search my site you'll see LOTS of beers being brewed in support of the LGBTQ community, not just AB and I don't think any of them (AB included) were done in the name of profit. I applaud all of the breweries for their efforts and I think the reaction and backlash in this particular example is just plain sad.
