Summer officially kicks off tomorrow July 1st with the release of the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby Summer Ale!
Brewed for the daring, deranged and artistic drivers of the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby held August 20th on Mt Tabor. This limited release beer is coming at you in 3D with a unique anamorphic label and classic red/blue glasses to celebrate a beer that won’t remain contained in a bottle and cars that defy the track!
The release of this summer ale, a refreshing libation with notes of sunshine and hints of joyful exuberance that pairs nicely with wild abandon marks the sophomore brew in the ongoing beer series from Gigantic and Weird Portland United. Proceeds from the Weirdtastic Series of beers are donated to Weird Portland United, a nonprofit that supports the artistic risk-takers that make our city weirdly wonderful
Come down to the Gigantic Brewery this Friday for the release to get your first taste and check out the 3D art - we will be handing out those classic red/blue 3D glasses. A number of the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby cars will be here at Gigantic lined up "cruise in" style so that drinkers can check them out while sipping on this fine summer brew. The official party is from 4-6pm this Friday, but guarantee people will be hanging out for a while.
Over the past 25 years, the Portland Adult Soapbox Derby has become a Portland tradition. It is a tradition synonymous with summer & beer. The Soapbox Derby has always been a way for the community to come together and cheer on the intrepid artists, engineers and just plain weirdos who make this city unique! The date for Derby’s return return to the mountain is August 20th, race starts around 10ish.
PDX Adult Soapbox Derby Summer Ale will be on tap at both The Brewery and Champagne Lounge (5224 SE 26th Ave) and Robot Room at the Rocket Empire Machine (6935 NE Glisan). You can also look for it on draft and in 16.9oz refillable bottles in the Portland metro area, throughout Oregon and along the west coast in CA and WA.
