Colorado Brewers Collect 22 Awards at World Beer Cup®

20 Colorado breweries earned medals at the global beer competition this year

DENVER (May 5, 2022)—  20 Colorado brewers collected a total of 22 awards at the World Beer Cup award ceremony on May 5, 2022 in Minneapolis, MN where awards were given in 103 beer-style categories. zzubreebym
This acclaimed global beer competition evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers.

“There has been a consistency in medals with awards going to multiple breweries for multiple years,” says Shawnee Adelson, Executive Director of the Colorado Brewers Guild. “The State of Craft Beer continues to show up at these awards which just goes to show the caliber and innovation from our member breweries”

Notable wins from CBG member breweries include:

  • Sessionable beer was a highlight for Colorado breweries, including:

    • Cannonball Creek Brewing Company earned a gold award for Trump Hands in the Session India Pale Ale Category; this is the third award overall for Cannonball Creek and the second gold in a row for Trump Hands

    • Launch Pad Brewery earned back-to-back awards for their Peacekeeper session beer in 2018 (bronze) and this year (silver); the brewery also earned a bronze award for Pumpkin Paddy this year

    • Station 26 Brewing’s Swift Half earned a gold award in the same session beer category as Launch Pad

  • 11 Colorado breweries took home their first world beer cup awards including:

    • Amalgam Brewing Company

    • Barquentine Brewing Company

    • CODA Brewing Co.

    • El Rancho Brewing

    • Goat Patch Brewing Company

    • Gruvi

    • Joyride Brewing Company

    • Little Dry Creek Brewery

    • Ratio Beerworks - Ratio took two home two awards (a silver for Dear You and bronze for Bourbon Barrel-Aged Genius Wizard)

    • Station 26 Brewing Co.

    • The Empourium Brewing Company

  • Verboten Brewing and Barrel Project earned a bronze award for Angry Banjo in the historical beer category; this is the brewery’s third award at World Beer Cup

  • Bootstrap Brewing’s Wreak Havoc earned its third bronze award in a row

  • Funkwerks has the longest active streak of any Colorado brewery winning an award for the fourth World Beer Cup in a row

  • This year Phillip Joyce, head brewer of Ratio Beerworks and partner at Amalgam Brewing has three World Beer Cup awards under his belt with two medals for Ratio Beerworks and one for Amalgam

  • 100 percent of breweries in Edgewater won, including Joyride Brewing and Barquentine Brewing Company

Presented by the Brewers Association, the World Beer Cup has been held biennially since 1996, to celebrate the art and science of brewing by recognizing outstanding achievement.
