50 Shades of IPA
Gigantic Brewing presents the release of an IPA that is unlike any other beer you’ve tried before. On the surface, 50 Shades of IPA means exactly what you think it means - but hops can add a lot of facets to a beer’s profile. It can go from a typical IPA to a juicy, citrusy and tropical transformation in no time. We added new experiences with Satus and Ekuanot to traditional hops like Citra and Galaxy to bring you a beer to desire.
“This beer isn’t defined by industry rules or standards of typical recipes”, Ben Love explains, “It falls somewhere in a gray area of what people think a beer should taste like. At Gigantic we enjoy classic beers but also like breaking those standards and doing what feels right at the time.”
At first IPA was a curiosity, a new experience with hops. But then you were drawn into a world you never expected, one in which you pushed past the bitterness to find the rapturous joy of sweet tropical and citrusy flavors, and you knew you could never go back.
Join us for First Taste Tuesday featuring 50 Shades of IPA on April 19th at both The Brewery and Champagne Lounge (5224 SE 26th Ave) and Robot Room at the Rocket Empire Machine (6935 NE Glisan). You can also look for 50 Shades on draft and in 16.9oz refillable bottles in the Portland metro area, and along the west coast in CA and WA!
50 Shades of IPA label art was created by Portuguese visual artist and illustrator Kruella d’Enfer. She has been delighting us with her enchanted visual world, evoking a deep sense of wonder with the fantastical, benevolent creatures that inhabit its dark and mysterious corners, be they mystical wolves or magical foxes. At ease painting both large-scale murals and intimist works on paper and canvas, her use of contrasting colours and geometric shapes brings age-old legends and myths to life, composing fantastic stories with a universal appeal.
