Here we have a new can coming soon from Surly Brewing in Brooklyn Center & Minneapolis, MN. This is Dumpster Fire 2020 and it will be a double dry-hopped hazy double IPA. This is the 2nd version with the first actually being named after a literal dumpster fire in the parking lot at Surly. This beer pays tribute to "2020's metaphorical dumpster fire" and it will bid "good f*cking riddance" to 2020. The beer will flame out at 9.3%-AbV and you're looking at the 16oz can. Stay tuned for late 2020 release info.
This 16 Dec 2020 update from Surly:
Years ago we released a beer called Dumpster Fire, so named due to a literal dumpster fire in our parking lot. Long story short: someone emptied their charcoal grill into a dumpster at Darkness Day. The end result of that is too obvious to require elaboration, but it did inspire a beer the following year. We never thought we’d need to brew another version.
We thought wrong.
As 2020’s metaphorical Dumpster Fire rages out of control, we’re making the best of this mess. This December, we’re sending Dumpster Fire 2020 out into the world in honor of this stupid f*cking year almost being over.
The old version was a literally smoked brett IPA brewed with puya chilies. This year’s Dumpster Fire, being figurative, is a little more subtle—it’s a DDH hazy double IPA, featuring a bill of Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic, and experimental hops. Think of it like watching a tornado level your hometown but finding a twenty in your jean pocket. Your childhood bedroom is in the next county, but hey, $20. Let’s get some wings.
(More accurately, think of it as a special holiday thank you to our fans for sticking with us through the longest year in Minnesota history.)
Dumpster Fire 2020 is being sold in 4-packs of 16-oz. cans. You can find it in the greater Twin Cities metro area on or around December 21st.
Cheers to you, 2020. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
