Union Craft Releasing Somebody To Lean On

UNION Craft To Release “Somebody To Lean On”
New Double IPA to debut in cans, raise funds for local restaurants

Baltimore — UNION Craft Brewing is proudly introducing, “Somebody To Lean On”, a new Double India Pale Ale, dedicated to the Baltimore area food and beverage service industry workers that have been negatively affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic. 100% of the profits from the sale of this beer will be donated to the Baltimore Restaurant Relief Fund. The beer will be packaged in 6-packs of 12oz cans and distributed throughout the Maryland and DC area via Legends Limited, as well as directly from the brewery via their Dockside Pickup and Delivery programs.

“It’s difficult to sit-by and watch your friends suffer, even when you’re suffering yourself,” says UNION Craft Brewing Co-Founder and Creative Director, Jon Zerivitz. “In spite of the massive hit we’ve all taken due to Pandemic mandatory shutdowns, UNION can still make beer and we still have an outlet to sell it. Using our beer to help raise money for all the servers, bartenders, cooks, and restaurant owners that are hurting right now was an easy decision.”

The beer, named in tribute to legendary singer, Bill Withers, with lyrics borrowed from his classic song “Lean On Me” is an 8.6%ABV Double India Pale Ale. This example of the popular beer style features big fruity aromatics and juicy pineapple and mango notes in the flavor.

“We wanted to present a beer that had all the characteristics that many drinkers crave these days, but always in line with UNION’s approach to brewing,” says Kevin Blodger, UNION Director of Brewing. “Somebody To Lean On is a dank and tropical DIPA, with just a touch of bitterness in the finish. We hope everyone enjoys it, but more importantly, we hope that people buy it to support our local service industry during this difficult time.”

The label’s design was generously donated by Gilah Press and Design and printed by Hub Labels of Hagerstown, MD.

In addition to the beers release, UNION has created a promotional video featuring several members for the Baltimore food and beverage industry, commemorative glassware, and a virtual concert on Friday, May 22nd at 8pm, by Baltimore musician Cris Jacobs performing the music of Bill Withers. The concert will be streamed live on UNION’s Facebook page.
